Using the space

Code of Conduct.

Everyone who books or uses the space agrees to these rules — they're what keeps a shared space workable for the whole community. Event organizers are responsible for sharing them with their participants.

Code of Conduct

The Geneva Solution Space is a welcoming, respectful working environment for people of every background. We expect everyone using the space to be friendly and patient, considerate, respectful, and careful in the words they choose.

Harassment of any kind is not tolerated — including offensive comments, unwelcome personal remarks, deliberate intimidation, stalking, unwelcome sexual attention, physical contact without consent, or sustained disruption of events. We are committed to treating all participants fairly regardless of age, gender identity, culture, ethnicity, language, national origin, beliefs, profession, race, religion, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, or technical ability.

If you experience or witness behaviour that breaks this code, report it to sdgsolutionspace@gmail.com — reports are handled confidentially.

Housekeeping rules

  • Respect your time slot. Other events may run right before or after yours — arrive and wrap up within the times you booked.
  • Bring your own supplies. Users normally bring their own materials; prototyping supplies are available as a paid service on request.
  • Take care of the equipment. Whiteboards, furniture, and AV equipment belong to all users — damage or loss is the user's responsibility.
  • Wear your badge. Temporary access badges must be worn visibly and returned as agreed; lost badges are charged at CHF 20.
  • Leave the space as you found it. Clean the whiteboards, take out the trash, wash your dishes, and start the dishwasher if it's full.
  • Emergencies. On-site security and first aid: 058 944 03 33. For serious medical emergencies call 144.
  • Pass it on. If you're organizing an event, make sure your participants know these rules.

Fab Lab rules

  • Training first. All machines require a preliminary instruction from the Fab Lab manager or an authorized advanced user before you operate them.
  • Never leave a running machine. Stay present while your job runs, and report any problem immediately.
  • A manager must be present. The Fab Lab may only be used while the Fab Lab manager or an authorized advanced user is on site.
  • Insurance. Users must hold personal or employer liability insurance before operating the machines; the Fab Lab assumes no responsibility for damage or accidents.
  • Document your project. The Fab Lab exists for SDG-linked prototyping — document what you build so others can learn from it.
  • Use consumables responsibly so the lab stays affordable and available for everyone.
